Things to Do In Vegas with Kids: Las Vegas Attractions for Children

It’s likely that you don’t think of Vegas as a kid-friendly destination. In fact, you might even consider it inappropriate for youngsters to visit this place often referred to as “sin city.” But when you are planning a family vacation, Vegas is still a popular spot. The good news is, you definitely can find plenty of things to do in Las Vegas with kids, if you know where to look.

Top Things to Do With Kids

  • Fun Free Attractions at Major Hotels: A great free activity to do with kids is experience some of the top attractions at the major hotels on the strip. Two of our recommendations are the Shark Reef Aquarium at Mandalay Bay and the Lion Habitat at the MGM Grand. The kids will likely be dazzled by the animals, and you won’t have to shell out a big admission fee like you would at a zoo. The fountains at the Bellagio are another good place to spend some time with youngsters.
  • Eat at a Cheap Buffet: Affordable buffet meals can be found all over Vegas, and this can be a great choice when you have kids along, especially if they are a bit finicky as eaters. With all of the different options, they’re sure to find something they like.
  • Visit the Lied Discovery Children’s Museum: This will cost you a little bit for admission, but you can actually experience a fun museum designed specifically for children right in Vegas. The Lied Discovery Children’s Museum is located on N. Las Vegas Blvd, and your kids can enjoy 100 different interactive stations ranging from science to the arts and humanities. There’s plenty of fun to be had, for both children and adults!
  • Las Vegas Natural History Museum: In the same vein as the previous activity, you can also take children to the Las Vegas Natural History Museum, where they’re sure to have a good time. There are a wide variety of amazing attractions here, including a monster T-Rex, an African Savannah area, and even an area showcasing Nevada’s natural features.
  • Stay at the Circus Circus hotel: This hotel with a circus theme is usually mentioned as the top kid-friendly place to stay in Vegas. It features an amusement park on-site and a live show put on every half hour.
  • Watch the Freemont Street Experience: Another awesome free attraction, performing right in front of you on the street.

In addition, there are a few options for childcare on the Vegas strip, but honestly it is not a great selection. I would also not recommend dropping your kids off for any large amount of time. One advantage of traveling with a larger group, perhaps two or three families, is that you can switch off doing kid-friendly things while the others enjoy themselves on the tables or elsewhere where kids might not have as much fun. All in all, there are plenty of things to do in Vegas with kids, and with a little planning, you’ll still have just as much fun!
