When you’re planning your trip to Las Vegas, the first big decision to make is the details of your transportation. We’ve already written about finding affordable flights to Las Vegas, but what if you want to save money and live relatively close to the area? This post will cover taking buses to Las Vegas, especially from California, Utah and Arizona, and also talk about bus transportation in the city itself.

Buses to Las Vegas: Our Recommendations

The most popular destination area to travel to Las Vegas by bus is Southern California, so you will find the widest selection of options if that is where you will be traveling from.

LuxBus America – This company offers daily bus service from Anaheim or Los Angeles California to Las Vegas for the web special rate of $49 one way ($89 round-trip). LuxBus America boasts a lot of convenience on their buses, including free Wi-Fi access, LCD TVs showing movies, Satellite radio, and even on-board attendants for food and drink orders during your trip.

Greyhound Lucky Strike Casino Service – Las Vegas – If you are coming from somewhere other than Southern California, Greyhound offers a pretty amazing service. Their “Lucky Strike” trips provide bus service straight to downtown Las Vegas from a number of locations, and the round-trips are open-ended, meaning that you are free to return whenever you like. This allows for you to extend your stay if you end up on a hot streak, or get out of town fast if you spend your budget in the first few days and don’t want to dip into your savings.

This Greyhound special service is available for a variety of areas, including San Diego, Riverside, Phoenix, Barstow and more. View all. You can also explore other regular routes from different cities to Las Vegas on Greyhound.

For travelers hoping to head to Las Vegas from Utah can ride the St. George Shuttle, which makes daily trips from Salt Lake City, St. George, Springville and Las Vegas.

In addition to buses, you may want to consider taking an Amtrak train to Las Vegas, as it is in many cases much cheaper than buying a plane ticket and can be convenient depending on where you are coming from.

Bus Routes in Las Vegas

Once you’ve gotten to Vegas, you may still want to use buses to get around in the city, especially if you don’t want to pay for a cab or rent a car. Las Vegas is served bythe Citizens Area Transit, which has several routes around the city. If you have heard of the well-known double decker bus that rides around the Las Vegas strip 24/7, this is a special CAT bus known as The Deuce.

Check out route maps and specials for Las Vegas Buses

We hope this article has answered your questions about taking a bus to Las Vegas. If you have any comments or things that still aren’t clear, please do leave a comment below and we’ll do our best to answer them.

When you’re on a trip to Las Vegas, sometimes you want to blow off a little stream. For some, the best way to do that is to visit a gun range in Las Vegas, which can be quite a thrill and a new experience for many visitors.

There are already a number of gun ranges scattered throughout Las Vegas, but one new establishment seems to blow the others away. I’m talking about Machine Gun Vegas, a place you can try out some incredibly powerful firearms. They offer a large menu of weapons for customers to pick from, including handguns, semi-automatics and full automatics. You can shoot an Uzi, an AK-47, or even a Mossburg 590A1.

Machine Gun Vegas employs a staff of pretty hostesses dressed in skin-tight clothing. While they look similar to the girls you’d find at your hotel casino, instead of getting your drink order they are actually serving you guns!

Gun ranges have long been a popular attraction in Las Vegas for all types of vacationers as well as locals. One group who enjoys them especially are visitors from countries that outlaw guns or put much tighter restrictions on their use. Firing off a few rounds at a target in Vegas might be the only time they get to experience shooting a gun.

Others might not like the idea of shooting weapons on a vacation, but the NYTimes reported that Machine Gun Vegas carefully screens its customers to promote safety and avoid any dangerous situations. Rangers are also around to monitor the customers as they fire away.

Machine Gun Vegas looks to be in a rather modest physical setting, but the interior is anything but, including a special VIP lounge. A number of packages are available, the most expensive of which cost several hundred dollars, but include a large amount of rounds and several guns to try. The gun range’s website also offers a couple of handy coupons, including one for free transportation from your hotel. (The range is located about a half a mile from the Vegas strip.)

If the rest of Las Vegas’s attractions just don’t satisfy your urge for excitement, then you might want to gather up your chips and head off to the machine gun range!

Some people are lucky enough to travel to Vegas frequently, but for others, it’s a much more special occasion. If you are one of the many who are planning your first trip to Las Vegas, this article will provide some tips to get the most out of your visit.

What Are You Looking For in Vegas?

Since Las Vegas is one of the most popular and highly publicized entertainment destinations in the United States (and the world!) it is easy to think of it as one unified experience. But on the contrary, there are several main types of Vegas visitors, and figuring out which one you are is the most important factor in getting the most out of your trip.

The Gamer

This Vegas traveler wants to stay at a big-name hotel, hit the casino tables early and often, and try to earn back the price of their plane ticket, plus much more, during their stay. For the gamer, it’s important to look up deals on hotel stays and inquire about player’s cards or other comps for his or her frequent play.

It is also important to study the different games you will be playing and look for tables with lower limits if you want to maximize your time playing. If you want to enjoy the free drinks that come with gaming, you can try to play low-limit slots for a while and enjoy a beverage or two while you’re at it. (But don’t forget to tip the waitress!) Finally, be sure to manage your money carefully and set aside a special “vacation bankroll” so you don’t get in over your head.

The gamer will often also want to experience the best of Vegas entertainment to complement his or her play, so it is important to look around for show tickets and other bonuses. These tickets could be comped for frequent play, or you might be able to find a hotel package which includes entertainment options.

The Tourist

The Vegas Tourist, on the other hand, is looking for a general good time filled with the quintessential Vegas staples.

This will mean a trip to the Bellagio to see the fountains and Botanical gardens, a popular Vegas buffet or two, and a viewing of the Freemont Street Experience, Cirque du Soleil or other classic show. It might also include a big frozen drink, a trip to a nightclub, and possibly even a trip out to Red Rock Canyon.

All in all, these are the types of activities that just scream “Vegas.” In order to maximize your experience as The Tourist in Las Vegas, it is good to plan your trip well in advance in order to get better deals on your flight and hotel right on the strip instead of in the surrounding areas.

And if you hit up happy hour specials instead of ordering alcohol with your meal, you will save a lot of money. You also might want to invest in a Vegas coupon book which will offer deals on all sorts of classic Vegas activities.

The Partier

Next up, The Partier is a Vegas visitor who is interested in anything but sleep! He or she should be on the lookout for nightclub specials, which are often readily available due to the competitive nature of the industry and the fast that you’ll likely still buy a lot of drinks even if you get in for free.

As previously explained, you can save some money by attending a cheaper happy hour special or getting free drinks while playing slots before you head out for the night. This way, you will not need to buy as many expensive nightclub drinks. Also spend some time hunting down the perfect hotel for your night-owl tendencies, as many have dance floors and lounges on-site that will let you party until the sun comes up. Just remember the popular slogan, “what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas!”

The Family Guy (or Gal)

Finally, many will be planning their first Vegas trip with a spouse, partner or the whole family. Most of the hotels have pools which can be a great way to bond and spend a relaxing afternoon without spending much extra money. A couple would enjoy a romantic dinner for two, while a whole family would be best served by the variety of buffets, especially if there are kids who are finicky eaters. Children will also enjoy the fun free attractions at the major hotels, such as the Lion Habitat at the MGM Grand Shark Reef Aquarium at Mandalay Bay.

More Vegas Tips for Your First Vacation

In addition to these specific visitor types, there are some general tips that will help you maximize your enjoyment on your first trip to Vegas. First, depending on the time of year you are traveling, you will want to dress appropriately. And if you are planning to walk around a lot (which is highly recommended) be sure to wear comfortable shoes. Sometimes people wear their flashiest outfits in order to impress the Vegas crowd, but comfort should be your top priority.

In addition, you will want to do your homework on plane tickets, hotel stays and other arrangements. Here are a few other of our Vegas articles that will help you plan:

We’ve written articles on both Vegas vacation packages as well as well as finding cheap golf in Vegas. But you might have seen a type of offer that basically bridges these two offerings: the Golf Package. What are these and can they really save you money on your trip to Vegas?

Basically, a Las Vegas golf package is a bundled deal that includes rounds of golf as well as other aspects of your trip. The most common is to see a deal on a package that includes hotel and golf. You usually get one round of golf for each night of your stay, for example a package deal for 4 nights at a particular hotel and 4 rounds on the golf course. But in rarer cases other things will be included, possibly show tickets or even your transportation to Vegas.

You will want to inspect the fine print on these deals at all times. There will likely be limitations on the tee times you can have, for example. It is common for your golf rounds to only be redeemable in the afternoons, even though the morning is the most popular time to golf. Often a hotel will have deals with several different Vegas golf courses, so you sometimes have your pick. If this is the case you should investigate the different offerings to determine the one that looks most appealing to your game. You should also be sure what type of room is included in the package deal.

You will often find that these golf packages can be customized, although you will usually have to pay a slightly higher rate. Sometimes there will be different pricing for weekends and weekdays, with the latter obviously going to be cheaper. As far as the time of the year, sometimes you will see packages advertised that are for a time in the future. You will often see specified dates for which the package is valid. It will often not be during peak times.

There are a few places you can check to see if there are any good Vegas golf packages during the time you wish to travel. One is lasvegasgolf.com, which is owned by the Golf Channel. They have a special tab on their website that details special offers, which change frequently. Another good site for this type of research is Lasvegasgolfadventures.com.

Finally, you can take note of the hotels that frequently offer golf packages and go to them directly. The Stratosphere, Harrah’s and the Bellagio are a few you might want to start with. As is often the case in Vegas, even when you can book everything online, picking up the phone and talking to a real person might lead to a special offer you wouldn’t have found anywhere else. Best of luck on finding a good Vegas golf package! If you have any further comments or questions, let us know in the comments.

This can often save you the most money, but you have to do a little more work hunting down each individual component. On the other hand, you can sometimes score a good deal on a complete Vegas package, complete with a flight, lodging, and often a car, tickets to attractions and other bonuses. This is possible because the website or travel company has purchased them in bulk directly from the source, and is able to pass the savings on to you the customer.

Why Get a Las Vegas Vacation Package?

In addition, the package route can make a lot of sense because once you’re in Vegas, you will obviously need a place to say, and you will likely want to get in on some of the entertainment. Why not save money on everything beforehand by purchasing it all at a discount? These packages can also have many more benefits; for example, you might be less likely to splurge on an expensive show if you have already booked entertainment ahead of time as part of a package deal.

As is the case with hunting down other deals, it helps a lot do start shopping far ahead of time when you are looking for a cheap Vegas vacation package. In addition, you need to compare a variety of sources, for example Expedia, Travelocity, Kayak and more. It might look as though every website has the same types of deals, but if you look carefully you will see that they can vary significantly. Also, you also might want to consult with a real-life travel agent, as they have close relationships with airlines and Vegas businesses and can often let you in on some insider deals.

More Factors to Consider

Since most hotel rooms are double occupancy, you can typically get the best package deals if you are traveling as a twosome. The time of the year can also be very important, as you can typically expect to see much more attractive packages being offered during the off-peak season. The hottest summer months and coldest winter months are usually good times to go, assuming you have the scheduling flexibility.

By shopping around for an all-inclusive deal, you can save a bundle on all aspects of your Vegas trip. We hope this article gave you some helpful tips and that you find a cheap Vegas vacation package soon!

This post will outline how to save money on your drinks during your trip to Vegas. If you’re trying to enjoy a cheap Vegas vacation, you want to limit your expenses in as many areas as possible. We’ve already covered flights and hotels in depth, and suggested various ways that you can score lower prices and higher satisfaction. But drinks are another area where many people spend much more than they have to. Here are some tips for saving money on your Vegas drinks, and even enjoying some free ones!

Enjoy Free Comped Drinks, But Don’t Forget to Tip

It’s fairly well known that you get complimentary drinks in Vegas when you are playing table games or slot machines. All you have to do is sit down and start playing, and cocktail waitresses will soon be passing by to take your order. Of course, it’s easy to take advantage of this and keep it 100% free by not tipping, but you shouldn’t do this for a couple of reasons.

First, cocktail waitresses do not earn a high hourly wage, so they depend on tips for much of their income. Don’t stiff them when they are going out of their way to bring you free drinks; offer a dollar for each drink they bring you. This is a tiny price to pay for drinks, especially in an environment like Vegas.

Also, they will know who is tipping and who is not, so you can expect to see your waitress a lot more often if you are tipping the recommended $1 per drink. Also don’t be surprised if they mix a drink up a little stronger for the tippers compared to the non-tippers.

Skip the Drinks with Dinner to Save Money

Traditionally, drinks are one of the items with the highest markup at any restaurant, and this is even more so in Las Vegas. If you go out to a nice restaurant for a meal, you can easily blow through a ton of cash if you buy several drinks.

It’s much more effective to seek out a good happy hour special beforehand where you will get a much better deal. Then at the restaurant, you can stick to water or perhaps enjoy one drink if it enhances your enjoyment of the meal as a whole. Then after you are finished, you can either go back to a cheaper location for drinks, or even better, play some table games and enjoy free drinks.

Avoid the Big Clubs/Nightspots for Cheap Vegas Drinks

When you’re talking about drinks during a night out on the town in Vegas, there are a few things to do to save money. First, you should avoid the ritzy nightclubs, or at least limit them to one special night during your trip if you want that experience. There will usually be a high cover charge, and then once you’re inside, the drinks will be extremely expensive. It’s much better to seek out more reasonable bars. If you hunt for drink specials, you’ll usually be able to find some great deals.

I hope this article has been helpful to you, and that you save money on your drinks in Vegas during your next visit!

Once you’ve secured cheap airfare to Vegas, you’ll next want to nail down your lodging arrangements. Hotels in Vegas vary greatly: you can stay in a posh suite right on the Strip with just about any luxury you could imagine, or you can opt to stay in a more modest accommodation and save your money for other activities. Regardless, there are some tips you should keep in mind to be sure you are getting saving money on your hotel in Vegas.

Tips for Picking a Las Vegas Hotel for Your Vacation

They say the realty business is about “location, location, location,” but I’d argue that the same holds true for picking the right hotel. You might be able to score a good deal on a particular hotel, but if it’s a pain to get to the Strip or anywhere else you want to go, that advantage disappears. Instead, you need to weigh both the cost in dollars and the cost in convenience and effort needed to get from your hotel to your other destinations. You can’t just take the price as the only factor in your decision. Also, plenty of the hotels right on the Strip are among the most affordable.

Keeping this in mind, there are certainly some other steps you can take to make sure you’re getting a good deal on your Vegas hotel.

Engage in Comparison Hotel Shopping – Just as you would with your airfare, you should compare multiple resources when looking for a hotel in Vegas. You can compare hotel rates with aggregator sites such as Expedia.com, and these can be a great way to quickly sift through the various options. Also, don’t forget to inspect the websites of the hotels themselves, as you can sometimes find exclusive promotions there that won’t show up on the discount sites. Also consider putting in a phone call to the hotel staff, as they will often let you know about more deals and specials in an attempt to get your reservation.

Consider Going During the Week – It isn’t always possible to hand pick the days of your visit, but if it’s at all possible, consider going during the week and skipping the weekend rush. In general, hotels will be a lot cheaper during the week, and there are also other advantages like a much easier time finding restaurant reservations.

Join a VIP Gaming Club -If you like to hit the gaming tables on your Vegas trip, consider joining the Rewards Club of major hotels such as the MGM and Harrah’s. They will keep track of your play and you’ll often get discounts on your hotel rate. If you’re a big time player, you might even get a free night or two!

Keeping these tips in mind, you should be able to secure a lower rate for your Vegas hotel stay. If you’ve already traveled to Vegas, where did you stay? How did you like your experience, and would you stay there again?

One of the biggest factors in a discount Vegas vacation is finding a cheap flight. This makes sense, because airfare will usually be the most significant expense you will incur on your trip. But are there any tactics you can use to save money on your flight to Vegas? This article will go over some tips and strategies to save money on Vegas airfare.

Plan Ahead for Big Savings - The best thing you can do to save money on a Vegas flight is to plan it in advance. If you are trying to book a ticket and leave in the next few days, it will usually be much more expensive. (Also, the flight selection will be much worse.) In contrast, doing it months in advance can save you a huge chunk of money. Now realistically, you won’t always know your future plans perfectly, and this isn’t always possible. In that case, you can sometimes find last-minute deals on flights, but these are more rare. For the most part, the earlier you can book the better.

Shop Around Online to Find Cheap Flights - One great improvement of the past few years is the emergence of discount travel engines that can help you scour the web for the best flights. When planning your trip to Vegas, you should do some internet research on sites like Expedia.com, Kayak.com and Priceline.com to compare rates and see the lowest flights offered. By utilizing multiple sources, that themselves aggregate hundreds of flights, you’ll be much more likely to score a big deal. It can also be a great idea to check out the actual airline websites in addition to these discount retailers, as they will sometimes have exclusive deals you won’t find anywhere else.

Don’t Forget Your Other Expenses – You also shouldn’t forget to consider your lodging and other expenses in combination with the flight. To give an example, you will often find cheaper flights on Saturdays, but the rates for hotels will be much higher, so you’ll give that money right back and more. Always remember to factor in what other activities are going to cost you when you fly at a particular date and time.

Prepare For Your Flight and Above All, Relax! – Often the price of the ticket isn’t the only important factor in your trip. If you take a little time to consider the arrangements and do a little planning ahead of your flight, you’ll have a much more enjoyable airline experience. Be sure to bring along something fun to do (a good book, relaxing music, or even a Vegas guide to get you in the right mood) during those times in between flights as well as in the air. If you don’t fly all that often, take a few minutes to read up on the TSA procedures and allowed items so you don’t get flustered or take too much time at the airport. And it always helps to confirm your flight before you leave your house.

In addition, depending on where you are coming from you can save money by driving to Vegas. But remember that the traffic can be bad, especially on Sundays, and that drive home might be a little less fun.
